“…things that are fitting…”
(Titus 2:1)

Certain things fit a believer’s life; other things don’t; it’s just that simple!

Simple? Well, not everything is clear cut. Some things are gray and could be called preferences …some prefer one thing and others prefer something else.

But then, there are clear cut convictions about character qualities and life decisions. These things are simply not optional. These are listed here in Titus 2 and they are some of the things expected from the child of God.

Since we say that we are followers of Jesus, we have a responsibility to live like it! We must live a life that fits.

In the original language, the word for “fitting” is “prepo.” It means proper, suitable, appropriate, seemly, etc. The NIV translates it “in accord with” and the KJV translates it “which becomes sound doctrine.”

When Paul wrote to the Ephesian church he used this word:

“But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even
be named among you, as is proper (prepo) among saints
(Eph 5:3)

Proper among “saints”…did you know you are a “saint?” When God saved you, He set you apart for His purposes—that made you a saint (literally: “a holy one”).

Since you are a saint there are certain things that are expected about your life. Certain things are proper…other things are not. You are to be holy—like the One who calls you is holy (I Peter 1:14-16).

Make this your prayer today:

Father,
By the blood of Jesus, I am called to be Your child. As Your child, I have a responsibility to show the world that You are real.
Let my life speak of Your grace…I want all of my life to FIT and appropriately demonstrate that Your grace is at work in me!
For the Sake of Jesus’ Name, Amen.
